“Over past five years, the occupational injury rate among Kazatomprom operations has decreased twice. Every year, the company spends about 7 billion tenge for improving the occupational safety status. Occupational health and safety management systems based on international standards have been implemented by 28 Kazatomprom’s entities”, said Tulegen Mukhanov, first deputy executive director of AMME.
The award ceremony was held as part of the VII Kazakhstan International Occupational Safety and Health Conference and Exhibition (KIOSH-2017) associated with the World Day for Safety and Health at Work. JV Inkai has been recognized a safety, health, environment and quality leader amongst all Cameco operations. As a recognition of the high safety culture maintained for last year and a half (including One year LTI-free), the enterprise has been awarded the Mary-Jean Mitchell Green Chair's Award. This high level has been achieved through efforts of the personnel and compliance with international management standards. By the way, the first time Inkai was granted this award in 2009. The Mary-Jean Mitchell Green Chair's Award was established to honor Mary-Jean Mitchell Green who was one of the original members of Cameco’s board of directors. Mary-Jean actively promoted health and safety across the company operations.
